About

It all started in 2016 in one of the most prestigious fashion schools when a very young aspiring designer was looking for ideas for her final work. It then happened that Erika D., the creative mind of d’akire, remembering her childhood and her nanny who was often knitting, chose to stand out by crocheting her entire first collection of six outfits with related accessories. There was a great appreciation for that original and laborious solution.

There started her enthusiasm for this traditional technique of which our grand mothers were understandably proud teachers. That enthusiasm soon spread among those who were involved in the project, within whom an environment of close collaboration was created.

The d’akire brand was launched in 2020 with the intention of revisiting classic models to adapt them to the needs of modern-day women.

We are still a small but very passionate team, aiming at constant search for quality materials, scrupulous attention to details, and creation of fresh and new products.

The ideas arise in the Turin style office where we transform them into sketches and test various yarn matchings to create original and colorful models. The final outcome is a product that we believe is of excellent workmanship, 100% made in Italy, partly by historic master craftsmen from the Marche region, who take care of the soles, and partly by skilled crocheting women, who turned their hobby into a profession.

In line with these traditions, we are inspired by the footwear of the Greek and Roman divinities. In particular, our models pay homage to two characters made immortal by Botticelli in his “Primavera”, where the nymph Cloride is changing into the Roman goddess Flora, a beautiful girl who is spreading flowers around her.
